FAQs
How does the conical blade work?
The patented conical blade acts like a small funnel, allowing only the tip of the nail into the cutting area.
My dog or cat has dark nails. How do I know where the quick is located, so I can figure out what size I need?
There are a couple ways to do this. Look at the underside of the nail – times the quick or blood supply will be visible from the underside when it can’t be seen from above. Another is to trim a little bit at a time until you see a little white circle just start to appear at the end of the nail – this is the beginning of the quick. Stop when you see that white circle. A third option is to have your pet’s nails professionally trimmed and then measure after – good professional groomers, vet techs and veterinarians typically have years of experience and they will trim to the length you want to try to maintain. Trimming a little at a time is easier on your pet and safer.
The clippers, especially the larger sizes, require more force to use than I can create with my fingers in the finger holes. What should I do?
Grasp the clippers in your palm and wrap your fingers around the handle, not through the finger holes. This allows you to use the strength of your entire hand. Most people, after trying both the finger holes and the whole-hand method, use their whole hand.
Does it crush the nail?
No. The stainless steel blade is designed to shear the nail instead of crushing it.
Is it helpful for people with limited near vision?
Yes. The design helps prevent cutting too much nail, which can make trimming easier for people who have difficulty seeing up close.

Innovating for Pets and Their People
I’ve spent 20 years in the U.S. pet industry, bringing more than 40 new product lines to market and creating pet supply distribution firm Zeus & Company.
